The City of Santa Clarita is celebrating Youth Art Month by hosting the Santa Clarita Youth Arts Showcase on Saturday, March 24, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, located at The Centre. The free event gives students in the Santa Clarita Valley an opportunity to showcase their talent by performing or displaying their art for the community. Each school district will highlight their visual artists and performing artists, local dance studios will lead participatory movement and dance classes, student artists will display their street painting masterpieces and local art studios will give interactive art demonstrations.
Stroll around the Santa Clarita Youth Art Gallery to see the amazing artwork from the top 20 students showcasing the Art on Canvas, Technical Art, and Pen and Paper contests. As you are listening to youth musician, walk around the gallery to choose your favorite art piece and vote in the "People Choice" category.
1:30 pm: Awards Ceremony
Bring your young artist to try their hand at making shadow puppets, building art robots, get their face painted, and receive a guided art drawings lesson in the Interactive youth art area.
Watch color explode at the Santa Clarita Youth Arts Showcase when youth street painting teams use pastels to paint masterpieces in the middle of the parking lot. The vibrant paintings will be available for viewing all day, stop by before they are washed away at the close of the event.
When not browsing, attendees can kick back at the Performing Arts Stage to listen to youth chorus, watch dance teams, and CalArts ensemble. Festival visitors can relax at the Oak Room stage to listen to spoken word poetry and storytelling throughout the day.
Dance to the beat as you learn the steps of Hip Hop, Polynesian dance, and African dance at each hour in the Interactive Dance Room.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to participate in all the movement and dance lessons.
