Since 2007, the Human Services Office has provided high risk male adolescents with support, guidance, worker experience, and positive opportunities through the Peers on the Way to Everlasting Rediscovery (POWER) program

Mission

POWER offers local teens a network of support where they discover their strengths, learn the importance of good choices, and gain new job and life skills that help set them on a path to success.

Vision

POWER deters teens from the negativity associated with gangs, drugs, and other detrimental lifestyles, while mentoring and guiding them to make positive choices in life.




Program Components:

The intensive 8-week summer program runs from June 2 through August 4 and includes:

  • Work experience -  teens will work 15 hours a week at $10.00 hour working on various projects
  • Team-Building Activities
  • Educational Excursions
  • Mentorship with a City employee
Participants Must:
  • Reside in Santa Clarita
  • Be a male ages 14-19* years old dealing with one or more of the following challenges: family issues, low motivation, academic/financial/personal struggles, gang pressure/influence, or past substance use.
*19 year old must be attending high school in the fall of 2016.

IMPORTANT

Please review the schedule below prior to submitting your application. You MUST be available for all components (program orientation, work experience, mentoring sessions, fieldtrips, and closing ceremony) in order to participate in the program. If you are attending summer school, this program will not work for you.
