The City has established several environmental programs and offers information to aid the community in sustaining long-term environmental quality of life. The Residential and Commercial Recycling Programs assist in diverting materials away from our local landfills and back into productive use. Likewise, our Stormwater Program has been developed to protect the local waterways from pollution and enhance water quality in Santa Clarita. The City is also involved in programs encouraging residents and businesses to safely dispose of e-waste, bulky items, hazardous waste, used motor oil, sharps, and other toxic chemicals.
Please visit our Green Santa Clarita website at http://www.greensantaclarita.com. This site explains easy steps to promote a healthy environment in your home, business, and community. It includes resources concerning the City's pollution prevention programs, exciting events, green friendly tips, helpful links, and contacts for your reference. Thank you for joining others in the community to protect Santa Clarita and ensure a clean and healthy environment for all.
Information on Meeting the State-mandated Chloride (Salt) Limits in the Santa Clarita Valley
To avoid steep state fines or a loss of local control, the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District is conducting a local planning process to determine the most affordable way to upgrade the Valley's sewage treatment facilities to meet the State’s strict salt limits. The SCV Sanitation District wants as much community input as possible and has posted important information on their website, including the time and location of information meetings and public hearings.
