Discover Day 2017 at Valencia Library
Community invited to a free event celebrating nature, wildlife and geology
The Santa Clarita Public Library invites residents of all ages to discover, play and explore the world of nature, wildlife and geology at the inaugural event “Discover Day 2017: Discover, Play, Explore,” on Saturday, September 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Valencia Public Library, located at 23743 Valencia Boulevard. The event is free and open to explorers of all ages.
From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., guests will be treated to a special presentation about the world-famous Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park located in Agua Dulce. A representative from the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation will share how these giant tilted rock formations were formed roughly 20 million years ago.
From 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Placerita Canyon Nature Center will host “Live Animals!” a live-animal learning presentation that will introduce guests to some of Santa Clarita’s furry and scaly neighbors! Come learn about the animals that share our environment and the importance of preserving their natural habitats.
