“A View” Watercolor Exhibit by ARTree President and Founder on Display at The MAIN in September

Art Reception to Be Held at The MAIN on September 21

Post Date:08/29/2017 10:35 AM

On Tuesday, September 5, 2017, the gallery in The MAIN will feature a new exhibit of watercolor pieces by artist, president and founder of ARTree Community Arts Center, Bob Hernandez.  “A View” is a selection of paintings inspired by Hernandez’s solitude moments both physically and emotionally. The gallery is free to visit Tuesday through Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is located in The MAIN at 24266 Main Street in Newhall.

An artist of many mediums, Hernandez chose watercolor for this exhibit because it allows him to experiment with opacity, translucency, brush strokes, bleeds, saturation, form, depth and movement. The exhibit will also display a sprinkling of acrylics and oils.

As a child growing up, independent thinking is what often got Bob Hernandez into trouble, but it ended up paving the way for his unconventional approach as an artist. His talent combined with his divergent thinking led to his acceptance at CalArts. During his time there, he began to find himself as an artist.

“I never stop searching. I like trying different mediums and approaches that challenge me to communicate in a real way. I hope viewers will enjoy my work, and that it will speak to them in a real way,” says Hernandez.

Residents are invited to attend a free art reception at The MAIN on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy light appetizers, entertainment and a chance to meet the artist.
