Bouquet Canyon Road Reopens
All thru lanes have opened, work still being done on turn lane
All thru lanes have reopened following yesterday’s water main break on Bouquet Canyon Road at Newhall Ranch Road. Friday’s warm temperatures delayed the process a bit, as each asphalt layer had to cool to 120 degrees before the next could be applied. In addition, a paver was out of commission for 30 minutes. The right turn lane on Bouquet Canyon will be closed for a few more hours as repair work is finished.
The water main break was first reported at 12:49 p.m. on Thursday. Drivers described water bubbling up through the asphalt. The City quickly shut down the affected lanes. By the time repair crews arrived on scene, a large sinkhole had formed.
The water line that broke was a 14-inch line belonging to Valencia Water Company. Their crews and contractors arrived shortly after the issue was detected and worked through the night to repair the water line and patch the roadway.
Safety officials caution drivers to never drive through standing water, as it is impossible to know if the ground is stable underneath.
